Personalise your day

It is always the thoughtful, personal details that go into a wedding that are appreciated and enjoyed the most! Here are some ideas that could be incorporate or adapted into your special day to make it as unique as possible.

  • Send out uncommon invitations. Instead of delivering envelopes, attached your invitations to mini bottles of champagne or balloons! Dare to be different and create the sort of excitement you want your guests to feel on your wedding day.
  • Instead of having a traditional wedding gift list, enclose a small note with each invite asking guests to give you: ‘Something to read, something to drink, something to eat, something to listen to', etc.
  • Present each female guest with a mini bouquet as they enter the reception of you are having a small, intimate wedding. This is especially effective with sweet smelling flowers.
  • Place two special posies in your bouquet. On your way up the aisle present one to your mother, and on your way down present one to your new mother-in-law.
  • Ask both parents to give you away. If you feel that the ancient tradition of a daughter being given away by the father to the groom is somewhat outdated, include your mother in the giveaway so she can share in the special moment too.
  • Place a polaroid camera and guest book at the reception table. Ask guests to take a picture of them and stick it into the book with a written message. Another idea is to place a disposal camera on each table at the reception with a note encouraging guests to take photos during the event. One such note could read ‘ Snap me, Flash me, Point me, but please, please don't take me home'.
  • Get the videographer to film each guest or wedding party and family members giving their thoughts and advice on how to have a happy marriage.
  • Have cones of rose petals ready after the ceremony for people to through. Children could be given bubble blowers so that they can join in the fun too!
  • Choose an unusal form of wedding transport like a bullock cart or pony and orchestrate a dramatic exit as the guests' last memory of the both of you on your special day.
