Description:

The privacy and serenity of Aspen Island makes it one of the more popular venues within the National Triangle. With 360 degree views of Lake Burley Griffin and the foreshore, Aspen Island can offer your event a location with a difference.

Located off Kings Park in Lake Burley Griffin, Apsen Island is connected to the mainland by a footbridge. Aspen Island is home to the National Carillion, a much photographed feature of the Canberra landscape and one of Australia's largest musical icons.

Bowen Park

Description:

Although created as part of the construction of Lake Burley Griffin in the 1960s, the origins of Bowen Park go back to the beginning of the National Capital. The 5.9 hectare park enjoys a pleasant outlook to the north east over East Basin and its predominantly exotic deciduous landscape is colourful particularly in the spring when the crabapples are in flower.

Haig Park

Description:

Haig Park is a plantation of densely planted predominantly exotic trees on the northern edge of the Civic Centre. It's strongly formal design consisting of trees planted in parallel rows renders it unique in Australian park design and this has led to classification by the National Trust. It is a very accessible forested park for a range of recreational pursuits.

Lake Ginninderra Peninsula District Park

Description:

The peninsula was largely treeless grazing land on the edge of Ginninderra Creek since European settlement last century. However with the National Capital Development Commission decision in 1967 to create Lake Ginninderra as the central scenic and recreational focus of Belconnen Town Centre, grazing was excluded. Revegetation of the area, principally with indigenous species, was pursued almost immediately

Queanbeyan Park

Description:

Queanbeyan Park was dedicated as a Reserve for Public Recreation in 1893. It was planted with several species of exotic trees as far back as 1870. It's central sports area has been used for cricket, football and cycling etc for a great many years. Among interesting features of the park are cast iron lamp stands that bear the inscription "E.H.Land, 1890" These were originally installed throughout the township.

Queen Elizabeth Park

Description: Queen Elizabeth Park was originally the town market reserve when Queanbeyan was gazetted in 1838. The weeping willows, prominent along the banks of the adjacent Queanbeyan River, were introduced into the area by William Balcombe and Elija Bambridge. The original cuttings, it is understood, were from willows near Napoleons Grave on St Helena.
